Students have startup some of the world’s most incredible and innovative company. Facebook, Snapchat, Reddit, Vinted to say a few. Indeed, 20% of the world’s unicorns are started by student-founders.
In the US, there’s plenty of VCs investing and helping student entrepreneurs. In the UK, we’re missing this and that’s why we are here!
We believe in student founders
Why are students so successful?
-
University is a catalyst
At university you’re exposed to a bunch of new concept, technology and people. It’s probably the only moment of your life where you’re learning something new every single day. That’s why you can come up with pretty interesting ideas.
-
Inexperience is a strength
As a student you totally lack professional experience but this helps you throw a fresh looks on some old issues. Create things as they should be, regardless of how they already are done. However, staying humble and being surrounded by experts remains key.
-
Being young has its pros
Starting a company is very harsh on a personal level, you’ll be obsessed with your project and be making less money on the short term. Later on you’ll probably be in a high paying job, have a family to feed or some important liabilities… starting a company will be harder
We’re here from day 0
We are people-first investors driving our entrepreneurs through a supportive-community. We exist to support founders at the inception of their idea and we help them find cofounders, mentors and ultimately product-market-fit. We’re looking for founders willing to redefine an industry, one-step at a time. Ambitions people that are determined to succeed regardless of the obstacle they encounter.
Our founders need to be:
-
As a founder you’ll have to keep this difficult balance between listening to the market/ mentors and keeping to your vision. We need those people who can keep direction in rough waters but also know when to pivot or re-focus.
-
An idea is usually worth nothing. We are looking for people who are ready to build and consistently learn from the customers they are trying to serve.
-
Being young has a lot of advantages but there’s one thing you probably don’t have: experience. We’re looking for people who are ready to learn fast and find creative solutions when they face problems.
We prepare you for your pre-seed
Cofounders
Solo-founders are 70% less chance to succeed than founding team. If you’re building something as a technical we’ll help you find your CEO and the opposite works as well. Each year, we receive 700+ applications of brillant minds willing to start a company and we’ll make you meet the most relevant ones.
Investor connections
It is hard to build on your own. We created a large community of ambitious or already successful student entrepreneurs. You’ll have a safe space to ask questions, relevant meetups and workshops with industry-leaders. The problem you’ll be facing were probably already solved by someone in the community.
Mentorship
Young founders lack experience, that’s why we’re bringing on board experienced mentors to help you avoid the first-time mistakes. They’ll be helping you review your materials, adopt a good approach and bring you relevant connections.
Community
100+ investors attend our demo days including top VCs such as Stride, Earlybird and Primary Ventures. We’ll prepare you to those VC meetings and the Initiator stamp gives you more legitimacy than any other early stage startups.
